His power is symbolized by his magical sword, but he loses it for love of Gerd, making him vulnerable and leading to his death in the battle of Ragnarök.
Freyr is part of the Vanir family, a class of gods linked to fertility, prosperity, and wisdom. He is often associated with his sister Freyja and is married to the giantess Gerd. Benevolent and generous, he is venerated for his ability to promote fertility in crops and herds. His sacrifice of his magical sword to win Gerd's heart leads to his death in Ragnarök.
